So far it looks like the new year is off to a strong start, as we continue to see new and limited releases from some of our favorite brands. You’ll find products from companies such as Oak Street Bootmakers, Viberg, Truman Boot Co, as well as others.
Viberg
A collaboration between Viberg and their Canadian stockist, Shop Lost & Found. This model of Viberg is produced exclusively for the brand, sold only through Shop Lost & Found, and with only one run being produced annually.
It’s that time of the year once again, for the yearly release of this beautiful Viberg 2030 in Horween’s Natural Chromexcel. What sets this boot aside from Viberg’s standard 2030 Chromexcel offering is its brogue cap toe, a feature found to be very desirable by many enthusiasts.
The collaboration boot will be built to the same high standards that have become synonymous with the name Viberg. Built with all natural materials like vegetable tanned leather components, cork filing, a cedar shank, leather toe puff, and Dainite rubber studded outsole.
Shop Lost & Found also carries other Viberg designs in Chromexcel leather, not found on Viberg’s home site. Offerings like the 1035 in brown, black, number 8 and natural Chromexcel.

The Danville Boot is bound to be popular amongst moc toe boot-lovers at large. Its design is neat and sophisticated, with clean lines and a versatile silhouette.
Oak Street Bootmakers
Cap-Toe Field Boot
A special release from Oak Street Bootmakers, a cap-toe Field Boot in a limited-time design. This time, the Chicago-based brand has chosen to turn to the legendary Tochigi Tannery in Japan to source their leather.
This is anything but the brand’s standard Field Boot design, with 5 eyelets and 3 speed hooks in antique brass, flat waxed cotton laces, a 360 degree Goodyear welt and a brogue cap toe, the differences are many. As for bottoming, the Cap-Toe Field Boot will feature a Dainite Ridgeway sole with a solid rubber heel base.
We can’t talk about this boot without speaking more about its leather, Tochigi’s No.3 Dark Brown Hashimoto. The Hashimoto Leather is vegetable tanned with pure natural tannins, extracted in-house from Mimosa bark. The result is a tough, smooth grain leather, with a luxurious feel and excellent patina properties.
The Cap-Toe Trench Boot offers the best of two worlds. It gives you the clean lines and sturdy construction quality of an American-made service boot, built using leather from one of Japan’s oldest and iconic tanneries.
Cap-Toe Lakeshore Boot
Not only one, but two releases from Oak Street Bootmakers, back to back. This time it’s their Lakeshore Boot in another exciting, and very desirable vegetable tanned leather from the famous Tochigi Tannery, in Japan.
The limited edition Cap-Toe Lakeshore Boot will feature 8 antique brass eyelets with flat waxed cotton laces, a brogue cap-toe, a 360 degree Goodyear welt, and a Dainite Ridgeway Sole with a solid rubber heel block.
Now for the star of the show, the No. 2 Tan Hashimoto from Japan’s Tochigi tannery. A full grain, vegetable tanned leather that’s both hearty and supple. Aged using in-house made tannins from Mimosa bark, as well as other brand-secret ingredients. As with most Tochigi leathers, the hides exhibit a wonderful degree of grain character.
The Cap-Toe Lakeshore Boot makes for a design that’s both durable and elegant, with its tough Ridgeway outsole, solid construction and brogue detailing. It’s certainly something that can be dressed up or down, for a day at the office or a night out on the town.
Brave Star Selvedge
A new release from the popular, Los Angeles based denim brand, a long sleeve, heavyweight Henley shirt that’s 100% made in America.
The Glory Days Henley is made from custom knit heavyweight cotton jersey fabric that’s pre-washed for a no-shrink, true fit, making choosing your size much easier. The shirt features 3 cats eye buttons and a 1×1 contrast rib cotton around the collar and cuffs.
The fabric for the shirt is knit in Los Angeles and the shirt is sewn and assembled in Los Angeles. The Glory Days Henley is being offered in 3 colors, Thundercloud Grey, Desert Bone, and Black. Any of which would be an easy pick for anyone in the market for a quality cotton Henley, one that’s not only good looking, but also domestically made.
Truman Boot Company
A new release from the Truman Boot company, the Cognac Shrunken Bison boot on their 79 last. A boot with a striking appearance and a leather that’s reminiscent of a certain character from the fantastic four.
The hides are sourced exclusively from American bison and gain their unique appearance from the specialized tanning process at Law Tanning, in Wisconsin. They achieve an impressive amount of grain character, color, and pull-up through this process. The result is a leather that’s thick, pliable and durable, with a look that sets it apart from your everyday cowhide.
The Cognac Shrunken Bison comes in a setup that’s popular to the brand, and well loved by its following. The boot features 5 eyelets and 2 speed hooks in antique brass and rawhide laces, a 270 degree Goodyear flat welt, and Truman’s proprietary recessed rubber lug outsole.
Certainly an interesting offering from the brand and one that could add a little diversity to anyone’s collection. As far as style, this boot is strictly casual, and would look right at home under a cuffed pair of selvedge jeans.
Hiroshi Kato
Hiroshi Kato releases their first ever heavyweight denim ever, in a 17.5oz 4-way stretch selvedge with an indigo warp and classic weft. Offering the comfort and finishing the brand is known for, in a heavier, long lasting fabric.
The brand worked intimately with a renown denim mill in Japan to produce this special, one of a kind heavyweight stretch selvedge. The Mammoth Jeans will feature a Bordeaux Red selvedge ID, polished silver hardware, and a navy blue leather patch. This heavy 17.5oz denim is currently available in slim, slim-tapered, and straight cut sizes.
Nicks Handmade Boots
Nicks comes out with two new additions to the 1964 line of work leathers, one in Ash Grey and another in a dark tan that they’re calling Monarch. Like the other leathers in this line, these two are tanned by Seidel Tannery in Milwaukee,Wisconsin.
These two new work leathers are said to have medium to moderate water resistance and are intended to be stiff, offering the necessary stability and protection needed on the job site.
You can expect the leather to be thick at 7-8 oz, requiring some time before fully broken in. Although these leathers may be made with the purpose of being used for work, many will still find them desirable for casual applications as well.
We look forward to seeing what the rest of the winter, the depth of boot season, has in store for us. Expect to see several more new releases in the upcoming weeks from several different, familiar, and trustworthy brands. We’ll see you next week.
