Rainfall (particularly during the colder months here in British Columbia) can make for some pretty miserable working conditions unless you’ve got the right pair of boots. After testing the Georgia Boot Waterproof Chelsea Work Boot, I can say with confidence these are the right pair.
The shoes are built with the “Georgia Waterproof System,” an unspecified (trust me, I searched!) construction that the bootmaker claims to be fully waterproof. After putting them to the test in 2+ months of Vancouver rain, I’ll say they live up to the claim very nicely.

My welder son has very wide, flat feet, so finding him a pair of boots is always a challenge. After testing nearly a dozen options (including some of those that served me well), he finally settled on the Brunt Marin Comp Toe. In the 1+ year he’s been wearing them, I have yet to hear him complain.
There’s a lot to love about these boots: a thick wedge sole that offers good stability and cushioning, a 6” shaft high enough to provide ankle support, stylish smooth black leather finished with triple-layer waterproofing, metal speed lacing that makes it easy to slip them on, and double-stitching to reinforce the joints.
Comfort-wise, the shoes also do a great job, thanks to their premium insoles, adjustable width, rubber foam midsole, breathable mesh lining, and their light weight.
Just be aware that these aren’t steel toed boots. They feature a composite toe that’s lighter than steel, but not quite as tough.

The upper is a full grain leather that has been treated with a waterproof coating that shrugs off rain, snow, and sleet easily. The addition of a mesh inner lining adds both breathability and moisture-wicking properties that do a great job of keeping me from overheating during the warmer months.
The rubber outsole is wonderfully grippy, and features a nylon shank that adds stability on uneven terrain.
Inside, the boots feature a rubber midsole and a full-cushioned (removable) footbed that adapted really nicely to the shape of my feet to offer excellent padding and support.
